Nine rounds of chess is not enough to determine a clear winner for 17th Dubai Chess Open 2015. More than 150+ participants in this open event, and about 30+ titled master are join in. The top seeds is Englishman GM David Howell with 2687 elo rating, followed by Russian Vladimir Fedoseev. In the end, GM Dragan Solak from Turkey wins the first spot with 7/9 scores. He is joined by other five players with 7/9. Other interesting report is American GM Alexander Shabalov on the runner-ups line up with his great 6.5/9 performance.
The tournament become international sensation thanks to the cheating scandal by IM Gaioz Nigalidze from Georgia. The incident widely covered in chess sites as well as international media. Here some of the story compilation:

Repeating story on the cheating scandal in Dubai :
“Nigalidze would promptly reply to my moves and then literally run to the toilet,” Armenian grandmaster Tigran Petrosian said. “I noticed that he would always visit the same toilet partition, which was strange, since two other partitions weren’t occupied.”
Petrosian complained to the officials. After Nigalidze left the bathroom once more, officials inspected the interior and say they found an iPhone wrapped in toilet paper and hidden behind the toilet.
“When confronted, Nigalidze denied he owned the device,” according to the tournament’s Web site. “But officials opened the smart device and found it was logged into a social networking site under Nigalidze’s account. They also found his game being analyzed in one of the chess applications.” - The Washington Post

Turnamen catur terbuka di Dubai, yaitu 17th Dubai Chess Open 2015 dimenangkan oleh pecatur Dragan Solak. Dragan tampil sebagai rangking 1 walaupun ada sekitar 5 pecatur lainnya yang memperoleh nilai sama, yaitu 7 dari 9 babak. Pecatur Inggris David Howell termasuk di antaranya. Turnamen Dubai Open 2015 ini menyita perhatian dunia karena skandal curang oleh pecatur IM Gaioz Nigalidze dari Georgia. Gaioz adalah dua kali juara nasional Georgia malah. Sewaktu pertandingan melawan pecatur Armenia Tigran Petrosian (mirip namanya dengan juara dunia catur Petrosian) , dia sering mengunjungi toilet, dan menggunakan ruang toilet yang itu-itu saja. Si Tigran menjadi curiga dan setelah diselidiki, wasit menemukan iphone di toilet tersebut lengkap dengan analisis partai catur nya yang sedang berlangsung. Gaioz dikeluarkan dari turnamen setelah betul-betul terbukti iphone tersebut miliknya.
