Eurasian Blitz Chess 2016 Kazakhstan - Susanto Megaranto no.8 Top Ten

A very strong blitz chess happening in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The players included are Ian Nepomniachtchi (Blitz rating 2846!), Le Quang Liem, Sergey Karjakin, Boris Gelfand, all the way to Hou Yifan, Peter Svidler, Stefanova, Valentina Gunina, and so on. Our Indonesian best grandmaster Susanto Megaranto also included and roosted at #43 seed. The tournament done in 22 rounds, but played only 11 players, each player face two rounds. The tournament, that will take place in Almaty, will be one of the most important events on the sports arena of Kazakhstan this year. More than 150 athletes from Eurasia — the best chess players and grand masters of the continent – will participate in the event. The Kazakhstan Chess Federation aims to support and contribute to the development of chess movement in Kazakhstan by organizing the tournament. The Federation’s President Mr. Galimzhan Yessenov tells us about the driver of the idea of holding the Cup: “Our continent is living through some very challenging political days. Many things are disuniting people. We hope and believe that the tournament will connect people, the chess players from the countries of Eurasia, and help focus on what brings individuals and nations together, rather than any differences. We hope that upon returning home, the athletes will have left not only with their prizes and good impressions, but also with this simple and kind thought at heart. At the end, GM Farrukh Amonatov from Tajikistan won the event with 16 points, he shared the points with Ian Nepomniachtchi.  GM Susanto Megaranto earn respectable result at #8 , defeating Dmitry Andreikin, Hou Yifan on his way.

Grandmaster Indonesia, Susanto Megaranto, turun bertarung di kejuaraan catur blitz yang berlangsung di kota Almaty negara Kazakhstan. Pelaksanaan turnamen Eurasian Blitz ini dari tanggal 17 hingga 19 Juni 2016. Turnamen ini sangat seru karena dihadiri banyak kali pecatur-pecatur top, yang mayoritas spesialis di catur kilat / blitz. Urutan seed teratas adalah GM Ian Nepomniachtchi dari Rusia, yang kerap kali dianggap jagoan di bidang catur kilat. Lalu ada pula Le Quang Liem, yang juga pernah menjadi jawara di catur kilat. Selain itu ada bejibun pecatur-pecatur kuat mulai dari Peter Svidler, Sergey Karjakin, Boris Gelfand, Alexander Grichuk, hingga pecatur bandel seperti Jobava Baadur dari Georgia, mantan juara FIDE Rustam Kasimdzhanov, Wang Hao. Pecatur puteri adalah juara dunia Hou Yifan, Stefanova, Valentina Gunina dan masih bertumpuk pecatur dengan gelar grandmaster lainnya sebanyak lebih dari enam puluhan GM. Turnamen Eurasian Blitz ini dilangsungkan 22 round, di mana setiap pecatur bertemu dua kali, artinya hanya ada 11 pecatur yang dipertemukan dalam 22 round tsb, tata cara blitz yang cukup unik.

Tentu ini moment dan lautan poin yang potensial untuk GM Susanto Megaranto. Alkisah, memang demikian lah yang terjadi. Melalui pertarungan lomba cepat pijit jam catur sebanyak 22 rounds, Susanto berhasil mengumpulkan 14 point, jumlah yang cukup banyak untuk Susanto dalam turnamen ini sehingga mengantarkannya menduduki peringkat 8. Walaupun ada juga banyak pecatur lainnya yang memiliki nilai 14, Susanto didaulat menjadi pecatur dengan urutan teratas karena memiliki tie break yang sangat bagus.
