Veselin Topalov travelling to Dublin for a simuls against four of Irish resident chess players. The line up for Irish team are GM Alexander Baburin, Sam Collins, Mark Quinn and Alex Lopez.
Alexander Baburin is the only one with previous serious chess playing background, since I rarely found the other Irish playing over Europe. Baburin is nowdays popular as founder and editor of Chess Today. Veselin Topalov playing ok in board one, with Black against Baburin with Neo Gruenfeld, but maybe too complicated for a simuls against knowledge player like Baburin, Topalov slowly went weak and lost. Topalov draw with other Lopez and Collins, won against Mark Quinn as White in Sicilian Defence.
