Golden Sands Chess 2014 - Bachman and Irine Wins

Far away from the horay of mainstream chess in Dubai, where Carlsen, Nakamura, Caruana, Anand alike playing, well mainstream chess, blitzs and rapids, there existed the other part of chess food chain. Precisely it was on Grand Europe in Golden Sands, Bulgaria. This tournament is two series of event, previously playing exactly in Albena.

After nine rounds of swiss tournament, eight players ended up with same score, 7/9. Beside the anti-draw Sofia rules actually not happening, most player seems beating each other on this tournament, especially in the later rounds. GM Axel Bachman happened to be the highest score in Buchholz sense and he claims the first position. He passed the tournament undefeated, beating GM Vladimir Akopian in round 8, before the a 24 moves draw against Tigran Petrosian in round 9.

This tournament also inclusive of dozen of Indonesian Chess Olympiad players, testing their preparation. On the top priority for writing this blog, WGM Irine Kharisma Sukandar score the sweetest score by winning as no.1 Woman finisher (6.0/9). The 2nd  position fall into WGM Medina Aulia Warda (5.5/9). The highest male player is GM Susanto Megaranto on 5.0/9, #55 on the field. Other info is, Irine get her 9th IM Norm, while Medina got her first IM Norm.

Pecatur-pecatur Indonesia yang try out di Bulgaria mencatat beberapa prestasi gemilang. Grandmaster Wanita Irine K. Sukandar giliran meraih nomor Puteri terbaik di turnament ini, disusul WGM Medina Aulia Warda. Turnamen ini adalah yang kedua dari dua series, dilangsungkan di Bulgaria. Beberapa pecatur juga mencetak hasil baik, misalnya pecatur Setyaki Azarya Jodi dan Medina yang sukses mengepuk Granmaster Vladimir Dobrov, yang sepertinya lagi down di turnamen ini. Vladimir Dobrov adalah pecatur 2500an yang juga banyak menyimpan gelar juara di kelasnya, terakhir menjuarai turnamen Ljubljana Chess Festival 2014 di bulan Maret.
