From 23rd October 2011 and last for about a week, there were Japfa Chess holding in Jakarta. Japfa is a chess festival with multi events for chess player of all level. The highlight of the event is the Japfa WGM tournament. Invited in this events are three oversea WGMs to compete with three locals female players. In the early rounds, WGM Anna Burtasova was surprises by the competitive level of local girls and must donate a few rating to their opponents. In the end, highest rated WGM Sopiko Guramishvili claimed the first place. Indonesian highest rated female player, WGM Irene K. Sukandar was playing in China League and did not participate in Japfa 2011.

Women Chess GP, Zhao Xue and Their Romantic Scoresheet
October 2011 is a warm month full of romantic chess news. First it is Morozevich who finished ahead their opponents in full points in Saratov 2011. Secondly Yasser Seirawan put his buttock on the chess chair again after about decade of absentus, and tie first in Ciutat de Barcelona.
The most sensational news is from the Chinese girl GM Zhao Xue, winning the Women GP in Nalchik with two rounds to spare. This romantic scoresheet is the reflection on how the gap between one player to other in women's chess. Notice that the "peak time" of each player is also rotaring faster than men's, in other words, less consistency on these girls.
In Fide Women GP Nalchik 2011, Zhao Xue finished 8.5/9 out of 11 rounds, and her closest competitor Ju Wenjun and Russian Ekaterina Kovalevskaya are 2.5 points behind. This GP session did not included Hou Yifan , who usually the protagonist of such score achievement, and GM Konery Humpy. Nevertheless Zhao Xue "peak" time now victimized:

Indonesia Open 2011: Li Chao and Ganguly Tie First
The last round of Indonesia Open Chess Championship 2011 decided two players as top point receiver. Li Chao crack Argentinian GM Mareco Sandro to catch Surya Ganguly on top with 7 points out of 9 rounds. Surya Ganguly unable to upgrade his position as he wasn't able to get full point against GM Wang Yue. Li Chao and Ganguly accurately represent two of Asia's powerhouse in chess in this decade.
On the second layer of 6.5/9 point receiver are : Oliver Barbosa, Tkachiev, Wang Yue, Wesley So and Aleksey Dreev. Then the highest host player GM Megaranto Susanto catch up in the third crowd with 6.0/9 , along with FM Awam Wahono who in this tournament defeated three GMs: Dmitry Reinderman, Elshan Moradiabadi and Mark Paragua, Awam finished the tournament with 2608 performance and likely will get a prize of title norm.

2011 Indonesia Open Round 5
After round 5, nobody come with perfect score anymore. GM Vladislav Tkachiev and GM Oliver Barbosa was the clash to decide the (halfway) tournament leader but ended in a draw, so both standing at 4.5/5. Behind them now are eight players including Wesley So (won over GM Shabalov), Megaranto Susanto, Wang Yue, Li Chao etc.
Indonesian untitled Surya Wahyudi score another upset to GM Dmitry Reinderman. Previously he upset Eugenio Torre, draw to GM Cao Sang and now following the tournament with 2664 rating performance. He is going to play GM Laylo on round six.
Susanto Megaranto lost to Tkachiev but keep the full score on all the rest four games, including to GM Aleksey Dreev. Now playing on 2700+ performance as well and going to play Argentinian GM Marco Sandro.
The other victory worth mentioned, IM Tirta Chandra won over GM Tigran Kotanjian on round 2 and FM Anam Khairul won over GM Eugenio Torre on round 4.

Turnament bergengsi tahun ini, Indonesia Open 2011 sedang berlangsung dari tanggal 15-Oktober 2011. Hingga ronde lima, pecatur asing asal Prancis, GM Vladislav Tkachiev bercokol di posisi puncak dikawani pecatur Filipina GM Oliver Barbosa. Keduanya bermain remis di ronde lima.
Sementara itu, GM Megaranto Susanto masih yang tertinggi pointnya hingga ronde lima, Susanto mengalahkan pecatur kawakan asal USA GM Alexey Dreev dan mengantongi nilai 4 dari 5 babak. Susanto mengalahkan semua lawannya di empat partai lain tapi menyerah di pertemuannya dengan Vladislav Tkachiev.
Pecatur Indonesia lain yang berprestasi sensasional hingga saat ini adalah Surya Wahyudi. Surya mengalahkan Grandmaster Eugenio Torre di babak pertama dan kembali menelan seorang grandmaster lain GM Dmitry Reinderman dari Belanda. Hingga saat ini Surya telah mengumpulkan nilai performance yang cukup baik, barangkali norma untuk gelar master bisa jadi telah dipenuhi.
Turnamen Indonesia Open berlangsung di Jakarta di lokasi Hotel Le Meredien. Turnamen dihadiri pecatur-pecatur kaliber dunia seperti GM Wang Yue dan GM Wesley So. Ini barangkali turnament paling bergengsi yang telah diselenggarakan Percasi tahun ini, semoga tradisi ini bisa tetap diselenggarakan dan sponsor tetap bermunculan.
