Di babak perebutan juara ketiga, pecatur Ukraina GM Vassily Ivanchuk yang juga seangkatan Svidler berhasil menjawab fansnya dengan mengalahkan rekan senegara GM Ruslan Ponomariov. Partai Catur Piala Dunia 2011 - Final Grischuk vs Svidler

Event Piala Dunia Catur / World Cup di Khanty Mansiysk sedang berlangsung di awal bulan September 2011. Dan hingga malam ini, turnamen ini telah mencapai babak final dengan partisipan GM Alexander Grischuk tampil menantang GM yang lebih veteran, yaitu GM Peter Svidler. Grischuk sebelumnya menumbangkan GM Vassily Ivanchuk yang juga seangkatan Svidler dalam partai semifinal, di mana Ivanchuk melakukan blunder di partai catur cepat tie break ke-tiga. Akibatnya Ivanchuk musti bertarung kembali dengan GM Ruslan Ponomariov (yang dikalahkan Svidler di semifinal) demi memperoleh tiket ke turnamen Kandidat. Although Svidler vs Grischuk is the real final, I have the feeling Ivanchuk vs Ponomariov will be more the adrenalin rising match. The millions question is, will Ivanchuk qualified for the next candidate match? This first pairing of Ukraine vs Russian, generations of the 2000s vs 1990s is set after both eliminated their quarter final opponents in "normal" games. Both are familiar enough each other. 2011 World Chess Cup Judit Joint Quarter Final

Come back from her first game lost to L.Dominguez, Judit Polgar bounced and bounced from any kind of positions into a winning one. But the second tie break, Judith went "not drawish" opening, the Scandinavian, and quickly got drug by the Cuban and drag into hard work once again. Here another drama happening, the third game worked almost a win for Black's Sicilian, but then again Dominguez out of nowhere take the poisonous pawn on b2 and Judit line up forces of Queen and Rook is enough to push a win. Alexander Moiseenko: " Navara on the 35th move first touched the king. I told him: the king moves. In this tense situation perhaps we should remember Navara is ,as long as I remember, having an autism in his younger year. Maybe that added something. From China, it's surprising to see how many of Panda men falling from rounds. The only surviving are GM Bu Xiangzhi vs GM Maxime V Lagrave, and GM Ni Hua vs GM Ruslan Ponomariov, both going to tie break. GM Ruslan Ponomariov is experienced World Cup KO players, if not specialist.

Chess World Cup 2011-Megaranto to challenge Le Quang Liem

Round 1 pairing has been released for Chess World Cup 2011. I highlight some interesting pairing base on fame and rating. UPDATED. Megaranto will play Le Quang Liem. Not a very nice pairing for me, because two of my favorite player should eliminated each other in round 1.

GM Judith Polgar will play for first time (?), officially against Woman Champion GM Hou Yifan, who happened also one of the highest elo rating woman on earth. Also in our dream now, the updated pairing listed GM Movsesian as Hou Yifan opponents, and Judith to play Fidel Corales of Cuban.

Susanto Megaranto to World Cup 2011

For a long time, Indonesian shall have another shoot for chess World Cup, again. GM Susanto Megaranto just secured a FIDE World Cup 2011 ticket in Khanty Mansiysk by winning Zonal 3.3 qualifier in Tagaytay this week. Playing solid from first round, Megaranto started with a draw against Mongolian Gunbayar Myagmarsuren and alternately wins and draw for the rest of round, except another win on last round. GM Zhang Zhong is the noted opponent he also score a victory. With rating performance of 2692/2529 and 7/9 point, Megaranto is a sole first place standing of the tournament. He will travelling to Siberia with GM Mark Paragua (PHI).

In Women chess, ex Mainland and now Singaporean resident, IM Li Ruofan is the winner by better tie break, to WGM Hoang Thi Bao Tram. WGM Irene K. Sukandar missed the first place by one point, she suffered loses to Li Ruofan and Nguyen Thi Thanh An. Dewi A.A. Citra and FM Hamdani Rudin are Indonesian players with plus score in the event with 5/9.

Indonesian contingent is quite large for this event, with 12 men and 11 women participating. And for good hope, both GM Megaranto and Irene still open their hope for the World Cup ticket. Irene is currently a join top position, playing solid with her contempories, Irene losing only to veteran GM Li Ruofan, Singaporean PR and wife to GM Zhang Zhong. GM Megaranto also in hope position for a top finishing, Megaranto will play GM Mark Paragua in round 7, he defeated top seed Zhang Zhong for and still undefeated. The other Indonesian good result is by Dewi A.A. Citra, defeating Tuvshintugs Batchimeg in round 1 and now one point behind leaders.

Singaporean Kevin Goh and Zhang Zhong also maintained healthy result so far, both on 4.5 after round 6.

Asian Individual 2011 and First Asian Blitz

From 1st May 2011, Asian Individual Chess Championship 2011 begun in the city of Masshad of the former Persian empire. Event are in Open and Women section. Rustam Kasimdzhanov is top seed, followed by Krishnan Sasikiran. Munguntuul Batkhuyag is Women's top seed, Hou Yifan is playing in Open section.

Indonesian's WGM/(IM) Kharisma Sukandar playing good opening but then lost to Munguntuul, to stand on 2.5/4, the same as GM Megaranto Susanto but without lost. Wesley So having even rough start with 2.0, drawing two games and losing to Adhiban B.

The tournament is looking for four Asianers to granted permission for having a fun K.O event in the next World Cup cycle, plus one girl for the next WOMEN's K.O World Cup. Together with a prize fund of 6,000 and 3,000 dollars for Open and Woman section. And then to be followed by the FIRST Asian Blitz competition, of 11 swiss round, time is 3 minutes + 2 seconds.

ASIAN ZONE 3.5 CHESS 2011

First qualification for year 2011 World Cup done in Tianjin, China thru Asian Zone 3.5. After 9 rounds of Swiss, Li Chao (B) and Bu Xiangzhi were qualified. Li Chao played Gashimov in third round of 2009 World Cup, only sillily lost due to failed to sit in front of chess board seconds after the game started, the reason: he was smoking with fellow chess player. Bu Xiangzhi was also qualified in World Cup 2009 but didn't played because of conflict schedule (to London Chess Classic).

In Woman qualification (for Woman World Cup, 2012), Ju Wenjun and Shen Yang secured the tickets. Ju Wenjun once again prove be strongest in among the Chinese girls, the result consistent with her 2010 Women Chinese  Champion. Shen Yang is exactly the winner of previous year. So this Chinese Asian qualification resulting in the best player picked.
