Five More Vietnam woman chess players storming the upper standing on Day 3/Round 6, all elo range from 2200 to 2300+. Indeed the Vietnamese are of a large crowd in this tournament. The tournament top seed however, WGM Irene K. Sukandar, stays on 3.5/6 point. Countdown in Singapore 2011

Just before the countdown we will welcome a new Woman Champion. On the Woman World Champ in Antioch, Hou Yifan succesfully climbed to semi, meet her contemporary most dangerous nemesis, Koneru Humpy and won. Of the other side is a little surprise, WGM Ruan Lufei defeat comrade GM Zhao Xue, and previously Harika Dronavali and Alexandra Kosteniuk!

All mamas going home early, the last standing Europeans were Ekateryna Lahno and Almira Skripchenko. I really hope our new Chess queen stays as long as they are for another 20 years! Good luck to Hou Yifan (meaning=extra ordinary) and Ruan Lufei (charming)!

But, in ASEAN region there is also another heat. Not that Indonesia + Cristian Gonzalez vs Malaysia, but in Singapore, they hold a countdown party 2011.

Singapore will be hosting ASEAN first championship, for Men and Women. GM Le Quang Liem and his gangs, GM Megaranto Susanto seeded #4 are going to celebrate this. In Women area, WGM Irene K. Sukandar is leading ,to the other 14 girls. There is also Singapore Open, arbiter seminar, team match Singapore vs Malaysia. All after the Christmas to begin!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, a wrap up 2010 Chess Hall of Fame is ready to review here.

Chess at Asian Games 2010 - Team Match

In a more prestigious chess event in Asian Games, the Team Match started yesterday. 17 teams looking for a gold to please their nation. Asian Games is dominated by China who is excel in multi sports, weaker countries can only rely on 'speciality' sports to stealth the medal, like chess. Getting medal for those weaker countries is like an automatic national success... so much to promote that this match event is a win or die battlefield.

In paradox to above 'preface' I just found that Indonesia is not participating in the team match, look like we only sent GM Megaranto Susanto and WGM Irene K. Sukandar for the Individual Rapid. And to much surprise I also just realise that Singapore is not take part of any chess section as well! Seeing how actively Singapore Federation cultivating their young chess player I strongly question why they are not present in Guangzhou.

Semifinalist play off and MEDALs Standing:

Men
1. China - Gold
2. Phillipine - Silver
3. India - Bronze
4. Iran

Women
1. China - Gold
2. Uzbekistan - Silver
3. Vietnam - Bronze
4. India

Olympiad 2010 R11 - Last Wins

GM Megaranto Susanto won the last round against Mongolia's  GM Gundavaa Bayarsaikhan (2460). Alas, this win is not enough to secure another point up because the other board suffered a lost and then the rest two drew. With this Indonesia ranked no.67 in Open section of 2010 Chess Olympiad. Result for final round :

WGM Irine K. Sukandar also finished her journey with a win against Lithuanian WGM Daulyte Deimante (2307) , but the same misfortune happened to the rest of boards to let Lithuania won 2.5-1.5. With this result Indonesia narrowly missed the category prizes in Group C. In this final round Chelsie Monica was rested though she got higher rating than the rest of the team. From the chess result excel file, WGM Irine K. Sukandar will most likely get her IM title, congratulation!

Partai seru lainnya adalah kemenangan lagi si Chucky melawan  Maxime Vachier Lagrave, pecatur muda dari Prancis. Ukraina memantapkan posisi nomor satunya sehabis mengalahkan Prancis 3-1.
